Simple, Step-by-Step Instructions for Installing Forms on your site with CGIEMail

(or if you're caught in someone else's)

CGIEMail has been pre-installed as a shared script for all users in the common cgi-bin.  It's a really great script which will take your customer's form input and parse it into your predefined letter or contract. Then CGIEMail emails you and the customer a copy.

It's a little more complicated, but well worth the effort. Here's all you have to do:

Step 1: Save a copy of order.html, make your desired modifications, and upload it to your home directory.

In the source code, you will need to replace "yourdomain.com" with your own domain. Make sure you make a note of what fields you added or subtracted. You can add your site's standard design elements, and make it into a completely custom form.

Step 2:

Save a copy of order.txt, format it so that your customer's form input will be output in a useful format to the email addresses of your choice, and upload it to your home directory.

Make sure you add or subtract the same fields in order.txt that you added / subtracted from your html document. The fields must match exactly, including case sensitivity.

Hint: you can have cgiemail send the customer a confirmation email message, using the input from the form. Then just "cc" yourself.

Step 3:

Save a copy of thanks.htm, make your desired changes, and upload it to your home directory.

That's it! Test your form.
