How can I access my site's statistics?
To access your statistics, just go to
http://www.yourdomain.com/mkstats/
The most valuable section of your Stats package by far
is the "Referring Sites" section, which tells how people are finding your
pages, (by using search engines, using links, bookmarks, etc.) If you go
to this section, and review the "Referrer Log Summary" page, at the top of
the page you'll see which search engines are sending you traffic.
Below the search engine report is a list of
how many hits each individual page on your site has gotten. Click on one
of the pages, and you'll see a daily report for that page . This
information is important for several reasons: you can see roughly how
many visitors you've had that day by looking at how many times the index.html
page was loaded, also you can look at traffic patterns over a period of weeks,
and correlate surges in traffic with your promotional efforts. Then just
continue to do more of those promotional activities that are working!
Here are links to the pages of your MKStats site
which are the most relevant, and why:
http://yourdomain.com/mkstats/page_summary.html
Shows a summary of how many times each page of your site has been accessed.
Click on one of the links to see a day-by day chart for each individual page,
and where the traffic is coming from if you're receiving traffic from links
on other sites.
http://yourdomain.com/mkstats/referer.html
Shows the number of visitors you are getting from each of the top 5 search
engines, and from bookmarks or usenet articles.
http://yourdomain.com/mkstats/who_summary.html
Shows what countries your visitors are from, and what ISP they use.
http://yourdomain.com/mkstats/pages.html
is a list of all the search terms people used to find your site through
the search engines.
It's a very comprehensive stats package.
You may have trouble understanding your data in the
beginning. If you aren't getting much traffic, you won't see significant
stats. Check out the following links to see what yours will eventually look
like, once you get going:
